A recent study revealed that consuming salty foods reduces your thirst and increases hunger because you need more energy.
This is why you can’t stop eating french fries with salt on them.
The study was published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation. The results showed that salt remains in the urine while water is absorbed by the kidneys and body.
As researcher Friedrich C. Luft from the Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in Germany says, salt is not a waste product and turns out to be an important osmolyte. It mixes with water and helps transport it.

It plays an important role when the amount of salt in our body is low. This would be nature’s way of conserving water otherwise it would pass through the salt into the urine.
But this was completely reversed in the case of Cosmonauts where the team conducted a similar artificial study on Mars. Astronauts, who drank more salt, had more water and were not dehydrated and needed more energy.
The evaluation was completed by separating the members into two cohorts of 10 male workers and securing them in a simulated spacecraft for two simulated trips to Mars. They were analyzed for 105 days. The subsequent collection was analyzed for 205 days.
The two communities observed comparable dietary rules and subsequently provided varying degrees of salt in their dietary routines. The result was that eating more salt increases the amount of salts in the urine.
The results showed that the high-salt diet did not concentrate the urine, causing them to drink less water because the salt was activating the water-conserving mechanism in the kidneys.
